National Spirit raceday at Fontwell Park soon

FONTWELL Park is preparing for its next race meeting, on Sunday February 23, when gates open at 12.30pm and the first race is at 2.20pm, with the last of the seven races at 17.20pm.

The racecard features the prestigious National Spirit Hurdle Race, which is run over two miles and three furlongs, with ten hurdle obstacles to test the runners.

This race is generally regarded as a trial for the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham, with consistently classy horses entered each year. Previous legends from the National Spirit hurdle include Baracouda, Lough Derg and My Way De Solzen to name a few.

Winner of this race last year was the Colin Tizzard-trained Vision Des Flos which won the NetBet Casino sponsored  National Spirit Race in good style.

The relaxed atmosphere at Fontwell Park carries through to its requirements for dress code, with racegoers advised to dress for the weather because Fontwell Park holds race meetings all year round and conditions can vary.
However it does have a smart casual policy for the Premier Enclosure and hospitality suites.

Children under 18 go free when accompanied by an adult but some ID may be required.
