Horses trained by Nick Gifford at historic Downs Stables, Findon are continuing in fine form this season.
The latest impressive victory came at Ascot on Saturday in the Rosling King Juvenile Hurdle, when Nick sent out four-year-old Belargus, owned by JP Mcanus in a competitive field.
Leighton Aspell was in the saddle for this outing in this race, over just under two miles. It was Belargus’s third run for Downs Stables and Leighton settled him at the back of the field, coming through during the race to win well.
Nick Gifford said: “This horse is a very exciting prospect for the future and it was pleasing to have another good Saturday win for the yard.
“We are grateful for the support of JP McManus in sending us this extremely striking horse, which is ridden at home by Izzy Mills.”
He added: ” It was a great day and a great win for Team Gifford.”
