Fontwell Park’s 2019 jump racing fixtures

FONTWELL Park Racecourse has announced its fixtures for 2019, which offer top class jump racing at this popular Sussex track.

2019 kicks off with a meeting on Monday January 14, followed by another on Sunday January 27, and a third on February 14.

Then comes a key feature raceday there on Thursday February 14, when the top class National Spirit Hurdle takes place. This is the richest and most prestigious race in Fontwell Park’s calendar.

It is a Grade 2 National Hunt  hurdle race in Great Britain, which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Fontwell Park over a distance of  two miles, three furlongs  and 33 yards, with ten hurdles to be jumpedthroughout the race.

This race produced an exciting finish in 2018, when trainer Paul Nicholls won the race with 11-4 shot Old Guard, ridden by Harry Cobden, by one and a half lengths. In a thrilling finish, this horse beat 5-2 favourite, Lil Rockerfeller, ridden by Trevor Whelan and trained by Neil King.

In March there are fixtures on Wednesday 6th,  Saturday 16th and Friday 29th, while Friday April 12 sees an Easter Eggstravaganza Raceday, followe by more jump racing at the track on Wednesday April 24.

Three May fixtures are on Wednesday May 8, Thursday May 16 and a Bank Holiday Family Funday on Sunday May 26.  Two June fixtures are on Wednesday June 5 and Wednesday June 12, followed by a season break through July.

August has two meetings on Thursday 22 with a Ladies Evening and racing on Thursday 29. Sunday September  sees a Family Fun Day. October 4 and 5 Oktoberfest Day 1 and 2 and racing on Wednesday October 23.

November has racing on Friday 8th and Sunday 17th. December sees a Festive Jumpers day on Tuesday 10th and there will  be Boxing Day racing on Thursday 16th.
