Speaking about the selection, Chairman of Selectors Alex Colquhoun said: “We are delighted to announce the squad to defend our title from last year. This year we have had a difficult choice from a strong and experienced entry all of whom on the shortlist we would have been happy to have taken.

“We would like to thank our title sponsor Askham Bryan for their ongoing support together with UK Sport, The National Lottery and Equestrian Team GBR suppliers.”

The selected six, who include three members of the gold medal winning team from the 2015 Young Rider European Championships – Will Furlong, Ella Hitchman and Emily King, will be looking to defend their gold medal won in Poland last year and Furlong will also be hoping to again take home the individual gold as he did 12 months ago.
