Goodwood double for Hannon and Marquand

JOCKEY Tom Marquand, who is Ambassador for Goodwood, was on board the Richard Hannon-trained winner Oh This Is Us, on the final day of the track’s May Festival yesterday.

This was the trainer’s second win of the week, in the £100,000 Al Basti Equiworld Greatwood Stakes and Oh This Is Us was scoring his third victory of the season.

The in-form Hannon/Marquand duo later teamed up to for the third time this week when Out Of The Dark broke his maiden by winning the Equiworld EBF Stallions Maiden Fillies´ Stakes.

Trainer Roger Varian had the satisfaction of sending out Mount Logan to win the Listed Sedgeholme Stud Tapster Stakes, with the horse notching up his second victory at the track in two years. Last year he won the opening race of the Qatar Goodwood Festival in equally mpressive style. His main target is like to be the Hardwicke Stakes a Royal Ascot.

.Decorated Knight won the Listed  Festival Stakes on only his second start for his new trainer, Roger Charlton. Owned and bred by Saleh Al Homaizi & Imad Al Sagar,  he holds entries at Royal Ascot this summer, including the Queen Anne Stakes and the Prince of Wales’s Stakes.

Trainer Charlie Appleby sent out 11-8 favourite Romantic View to win the Fillies Novice Stakes comfortably  under Martin Lane, while Ralph Beckett’s Kinema overturned favourite Monotype,  in the Equiworld Stakes handicap under a well judged ride by  Pat Dobbs.
