Talented young eventer Harriet is aiming for Olympics

A talented junior West Sussex eventer is celebrating a prestigious addition to her team of horses for 2013.

Harriet Upton (16)  will be competing Carraig Dubh (Danny) who was produced by British Olympic Silver medal winning eventer Kristina Cook and competed in the London 2012 Olympics by Jamaican eventer Samantha Albert.

Danny is owned by Shaun and Janie Lawson and Harriet considers herself extremely fortunate have ben trained by Ken Spencer since she was 12 years old.

Also she was given a Christmas treat of a lesson with Olympic medallist Kristina Cook in January 2011 and after that first lesson Kristina offered to keep training her. Harriet was given a Talented Youngster Award by Horsham Lions Club which has helped her pay for these lessons.

Harriet’s eventing ambitions were boosted  in 2011 when she was offered the chance to compete at Le Pin Au Haras in France where I was part of a Squad of British Junior Riders. She was and placed 17th overall in a mixed section of 130 juniors and seniors and was also one of the top juniors.

Currently she is a member of the British Eventing U18 Programme and the GB Hows Racesafe Junior Programme. She is also a member of the Crawley and Horsham Pony Club.

Harriet is aiming to become a full time professional rider and says she is very lucky to be competing some lovely and talented horses in 2013 and also be supported by a great team of owners, trainers as well as companied which include MDR Photography, Timothy Foxx Clothing,   Grant Laing  Farriers, Andrew  Reilly Master Saddlers,  Littleton Manor Equestrian and  Kate Lucas Eventing.
