2013 horse racing fixtures

FONTWELL Park will host 24 fixtures in 2013 with a great balanced spread of midweek afternoons, summer evenings and weekend racedays.
The first special raceday of 2013 is the All About The Horse Raceday, which features the National Spirit Hurdle. on Sunday February 24.
Along with a seven race card including the National Spirit Hurdle, it will be celebrating everything to do with the horse with a good day of family entertainment.
Other family racedays include the Bank Holiday raceday on Sunday May 26, , two half term racedays on Thursday April 11 and Wednesday May 29 as well as Sunday September 8 and of course, Boxing Day.
All family racedays include free children’s entertainment, and of course in 2013 all children aged 17 and under go free.
There are two day meetings also at Fontwell Park in May and October, along with the track’s richest race, the Southern National on Sunday November 17.
These are outstanding racedays for jump racing fans and are a fine showcase of jump racing at its best.
Longer evenings see the return of music nights, such as Friday May 3, and Thursday August 15, which celebrates Ladies’ Evening.
Meanwhile there is a Christmas Party Raceday on Tueday December 11 with the first race at 12.40pm on a seven-race card.
The popular Boxing Day fixture on December 26 starts at 12.55pm. Children aged 15 and under are admitted free of charge and there will be plenty of children’s entertainment including: galloping horses carousel and chair-o-plane rides (£1 per ride), plus two smaller rides (these will be free of charge) and plenty of side shows and stalls.
At Plumpton’s popular course, the 16-strong fixture list starts out in style on Sunday January 6 with At The Races Sussex National Racaeday, first race at 12.40pm
There are two Monday afternoon fixtures on January 14 and 28, followed by another two on February 11 and 25. An Angol-Irish raceday on Monday March 11 is followed by a two-day Easter fixture with racing on Easter Sunday March 31 and Easter Monday April 1.
A Rock and Roll racenight follows on Friday April 26, when racing starts at 5pm, with a Ladies Day another feature on Sunday May 12,
Racing resumes from the summer break on Sunday September 22, followed by a fixture not to be missed- Moorcroft Racehorse Welfare Centre Raceday on Monday October 2.
This event raises funds for the Slindon-based charity which rehabilitates and retrains former racehorses so that they can go to good homes. Look out for tickets to the special Moorcroft marquee lunch.
Feature race there is the Josh Gifford Memorial Trophy
Plumpton’s remaining fixtures for the year are on on Mondays November 4 and 18 and December 2 and 16.
